Kowhai Garden takes inspiration from the delicacy of New Zealand’s unique flora and fauna and is based on the designs of French archival toiles. Petals and ferns are abundant amongst dragonflies and rendered in inky blue on crisp white cotton.
These are a series of illustrations of New Zealand garden flowers painted at the Auckland Domain Wintergardens. The Wintergardens are filled with colourful, Peonies, Lupins, Purple Iris, Roses, Tulips, Foxgloves and Alliums.
Inspired by the flora and fauna of southern desert climates, the enduring fascination with all things cacti is gathered into a garden of delights complete with succulents and their flowers.

I carry my sketch books with me everywhere. Wherever I find inspiration, I stop a while to capture these wild plants and colourful flowers.
Flowers are always an inspiration to me. Their natural forms and vibrant colors are a source for both my illustrative work and textile patterns.
